5th Lithuanian Geographers’ Congress 2026

We are pleased to invite you to the 5th Lithuanian Geographers’ Congress and the international scientific geographical conference “Development of Resilient Cities and Regions”. Bringing together scholars, practitioners, and institutional stakeholders, this event will provide a platform for advancing contemporary geographical research and fostering dialogue on the challenges and trajectories of resilient urban and regional development.

This event uniquely combines a national congress with a strong European dimension, as it will also host the Association of Geographical Societies in Europe (EUGEO) General Assembly and an EUGEO Seminar on geographical communication, thereby creating an exceptional platform for international exchange of ideas and collaboration.

The event will take place on September 17–19, 2026, in Vilnius at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. It is organised by the Lithuanian Geographical Society, the Institute of Geosciences at Vilnius University, and the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, in cooperation with EUGEO.

The Congress will be held in both Lithuanian and English. The EUGEO Seminar will be held entirely in English.

Save the date: September 17–19, 2026. The EUGEO Seminar is planned for the evening session on September 17.

Abstract submission deadline for the Congress: June 25, 2026 (up to 300 words): https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/DXcMMFEtgK

A detailed description of each session is provided in the Congress brochure (see attachments and website).

The registration process is separate from abstract submission; registration will open in the near future: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/4KvqhAFRSu

Those who wish to participate only in the EUGEO Seminar do not have to pay a participation fee.
