Die Universität Graz besetzt am Institut für Geographie und Raumforschung der Umwelt-, Regional- und Bildungswissenschaftlichen Fakultät eine

Wir suchen eine Persönlichkeit, die in Forschung und Lehre die angewandte geographische Forschung zu Gesellschaft-Umwelt-Beziehungen an der Universität Graz erweitert und vertieft. Von der/dem künftigen Inhaber:in der Professur erwarten wir einen wichtigen Beitrag zu einem besseren Verständnis des Verhältnisses von Gesellschaft, Wirtschaft und Umwelt im Hinblick auf die sozialökologische Transformation ökonomischer und räumlicher Strukturen. Dazu sollen vor allem inter- und transdisziplinäre Forschungsperspektiven genutzt und Schnittstellen zwischen Humangeographie, Physischer Geographie, wirtschaftlicher Bildung und Geospatial Technologies gestärkt werden. Die Mitwirkung in einem Profilbereich der Universität ist erwünscht. Die Professur vertritt in der Lehre die Integrative Geographie (Grundlagen, Methoden, Anwendung) in den geographischen sowie fächerübergreifenden Curricula (u.a. Umweltsystemwissenschaften und Global Studies) und leistet insbesondere einen wichtigen Beitrag zum Lehramtsstudium „Geographie und wirtschaftliche Bildung“.

Anstellungserfordernisse:

• Eine der Verwendung entsprechende abgeschlossene inländische oder gleichwertige ausländische Hochschulbildung (Doktorat oder PhD)
• Habilitation oder gleich zu wertende Qualifikation
• Hervorragende wissenschaftliche Qualifikation in Forschung und Lehre für das zu besetzende Fach (in Relation zum akademischen Alter und zu Unterbrechungen in der Erwerbstätigkeit aufgrund von Betreuungspflichten)
• Erfolgreiche Einwerbung fachspezifischer Projekte; insbesondere kompetitiver Drittmittel
• Kompetenz in Hochschuldidaktik und online-Lehre
• Kompetenz in der Betreuung und Anleitung von Nachwuchswissenschafter:innen
• Auslandserfahrung während der wissenschaftlichen Laufbahn
• Management- und Führungserfahrung
• Kompetenz in Gender Mainstreaming
• Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse
• Einschlägige Erfahrungen in der inter- und transdisziplinären Forschung
• Bereitschaft zur Mitwirkung an der universitären Selbstverwaltung
• Fähigkeit und Bereitschaft zum Engagement in der Wissenschaftskommunikation im Sinne der Third Mission

At the Department of Geography and Regional Sciences at the Faculty of Environmental, Regional and Educational Sciences, the University of Graz is seeking to appoint a

We are looking for an outstanding candidate whose research and teaching will broaden and deepen applied geographical research on society-environment relations at the University of Graz. We expect the candidate to make an important contribution to a better understanding of the relationship between society, economy and the environment with regard to the socio-ecological transformation of economic and spatial systems. To this end, we seek a candidate who will apply interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research approaches at the interfaces between human geography, physical geography, economic education and geospatial technologies. Involvement in one of the University’s “Field of Excellence” is desirable. The candidate will be responsible for teaching integrative geography (introductory, methodological, and applied courses) in various interdisciplinary geography curricula (including Environmental Systems Sciences and Global Studies), as well as contribute to the teacher training programme “Geography and Economic Education”.

Employment requirements:

• Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position (doctorate/PhD)
• Habilitation or equivalent qualification
• Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline (commensurate with stage of academic career and interruptions in employment due to caring responsibilities)
• Success in attracting subject-specific project grants, particularly where competitively awarded third-party funds are concerned
• Skills in higher education didactics and online teaching
• Skills in the supervision and guidance of early career researchers
• Professional experience abroad during academic career
• Management and leadership experience
• Gender mainstreaming skills
• Very good knowledge of German and English
• Relevant experience in inter- and transdisciplinary research
• Willingness to participate in the university’s self-administration
• Ability and willingness to engage in science communication in the sense of the Third Mission

Minimum salary
