The University of Klagenfurt is pleased to announce the following open position at the Department of Geography and Regional Research at the Faculty of Social Sciences with an expected starting date of September 1st, 2024:

Assistant professor (post-doc), non-tenure track (all genders welcome)

Level of employment: 100 % (40 hours/week)
Minimum salary: € 66,532.20 gross per year; classification according to collective agreement: B 1 lit. b
Limited to: 6 years

Tasks and responsibilities:
• Independent academic research with the aim of developing your own research profile
• Independent teaching in the field of economic geography and methods as well as further development of the department’s study programmes
• Participation in the acquisition and organisation of third-party funded projects and publication activities
• Assistance with administrative and organisational tasks of the department of Geography and Regional Studies
• Supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses and conducting examinations

Prerequisites for the appointment:
• Very good doctorate/PhD in economic geography or a related discipline from a domestic or foreign higher education institution
• Publications in scientific journals
• Profound knowledge of methods
• Experience in the international research community (e.g. international publications, projects, conference participation)
• A proven team player
• Very good knowledge of English

Additional desired qualifications:
• Research focus in industrial dynamics, especially in relation to digitalisation, or sustainability transitions
• Previous experience in the implementation of projects and the acquisition of third-party funds
• Previous didactic experience
• German language skills

Our offer:
The employment contract is concluded with a starting salary of € 4,752.30 gross per month (14 times a year; previous experience deemed relevant to the job can be recognized in accordance
with the collective agreement).
